How to Start Building Your Personal Wealth
We’ve all seen movies and series where rich people have no particular occupation or job, but live lavishly off their savings, trust or investment funds. For many of us these words sound as mysterious as the foreign names of the exotic dishes their charismatic characters would enjoy in the frame. However unattainable this world may seem, there is something we could all learn and use in our everyday life from these fairy-tale scenes: financial planning and building your personal wealth. Yes, I know, it is hard to talk about wealth, when your annual salary is far from reaching six figures. Nevertheless, in case of building and working on personal wealth, resourcefulness and persistence can come in handy and will go a long way. And we are here to share with you some simple steps.
Step 1: Get to Know Your Money
Living from paycheck to paycheck can create an aversion of checking your bank account often. Who wants to analyze their spendings and feel guilty for some little treats here and there. We get it, there is nothing to be ashamed of, a lot of people feel this way. However, sometimes, the best thing you can do to overcome your fears is facing them. We are no self-proclaimed gurus. You can take it one step ( month, week or day) at a time. In time, you’ll learn what spendings are non-negotiable, what could be a nice-to-have and what can be saved. This will become a solid base for your next move.
Step 2: Plan Your Finances
Spontaneity is great in many cases, but in personal budgeting and finances nothing comes more handy than an old boring planning. Whether you are fan of a classic spreadsheet, old-fashioned paper notebook or you prefer something more straightforward like our Planner, jolting your goals will give you clarity and much needed confidence to continue your journey of building personal wealth.
Step 3: Stay on Track
This is one of the trickiest ones. We will dive into this topic in more detail in our other articles, but let us just mention that nothing is more important than staying consistent and constantly contributing to your savings as well as watching your budget. It can sound daunting and exhausting, but in reality as soon as it becomes a habit, it will turn into a routine task that will bring you more confidence and (if you are anything like us) a feeling of being a real responsible adult.
Step 4: Learn and Adapt
Just like any other aspect of your life, building personal wealth as well as working with your budget and finances is a constant work in progress. However, this trait makes the whole process more fun. Imagine how exciting it will be to reach your first small goal and set a new one? Or know exactly why and how much to ask at your next salary negotiation meeting? Even though not everyone starts with a trust fund set up in their name, it is comforting to know that not all is lost and we can do something about it. Everyone has the tools and some access to make significant progress in building their personal wealth. And what is more important, you do not have to go down this road alone, we will be in this together with you, cheering you on.
Final Thoughts
Start small, stay consistent, and keep learning. Over time, your financial discipline will pay off, leading to a more secure and prosperous future.
